The Beach at Bude has been recognised for its high quality by the AA, winning accolades for both the restaurant and hotel.
The Beach at Bude’s hotel has received an AA Four Star classification and the restaurant awarded two AA Rosettes for Culinary Excellence.
The 16 bedroom boutique hotel and popular restaurant and bar, both of which overlook Summerleaze Beach, have been granted the awards after an inspection in March 2017.
The AA inspection involved the judging of six critical assessment areas: cleanliness, hospitality, service, bedrooms, bathrooms and food.
AA inspector Robert Martin said: “The Beach Hotel impresses for its many qualities. This was a most enjoyable visit, to a well-managed establishment with a focused team, delivering friendly hospitality and attentive service in a delightful environment.
“The meal taken impressed for ingredient quality and cookery and the two AA Rosette Award is deserved. In terms of cleanliness, compliments to the team.”
The AA Merit Score provides consumers with a means of comparing hotels within the same star rating. The Beach was awarded 78 out of 100, well within the 70-84 bracket required to achieve four star status. All areas inspected must reach the standard required for the star rating.
The restaurant was awarded two AA Rosettes for Culinary Excellence based on the critique of three courses chosen from the menu by the inspector: mushroom and egg yolk ravioli to start; lamb striploin with boulangère potatoes for the main course; and panna cotta with rhubarb and ginger crumble for dessert.
The Rosette accreditation represents a significant achievement for hotel owners Will and Susie Daniel, and for head chef Joe Simmonds.
Of the AA inspection success, Susie Daniel said, “We are thrilled that the hotel and restaurant has had such a great review by the AA and has achieved the recognition we feel it deserves.
“Everyone has worked incredibly hard to maintain a high quality of service and standard here at The Beach and this signifies that the hard worked is paying off. Thank you to all our great staff for their hard work and the AA inspector Robert for his kind words.”
