Alcohol Health Alliance Day Of Action And General Election Build Up

The Alcohol Health Alliance held a day of action on 5th September focus on the estimated £21 billion cost of alcohol related harm. They are also highlighting their ten point manifesto for the General Election which includes recommendations for a minimum unit price, further tightening of licensing legislation to restrict availability and the banning of all alcohol advertising sponsorship. The BBPA worked with other trade associations and the Portman Group to align media strategy and lines where possible and also produced a member briefing and a briefing for Andrew Griffiths and the APPBG.

The BBPA has also produced an analysis of the £21 billion estimate which will be shared with interested stakeholders as appropriate and also used as a basis for raising issues with the Department of Health regarding aspects of the methodology about how this estimate is subsequently used.
