BHA Welcomes Government Tourism Initiative For The North Of England

The BHA today welcomed the announcement by Deputy PM Nick Clegg that the Government is to put aside £10 million to promote tourism in the North of England, with the aim of attracting more tourists to iconic destinations such as York, Blackpool, Hadrian’s Wall, the Lake District, the Peak District and many, many more.

Ufi Ibrahim, CEO of the British Hospitality Association said: “This is very positive news – it shows that the government is seeing the massive potential of tourism to drive forward the economy and generate new jobs. It also shows that we need to invest in the best strategies to promote our fantastic cultural and heritage assets onto the world stage. The North of England is a good place to start with such an initiative and we would hope it will quickly grow to encompass other areas of the country.”
