Steak of the Art, which is located at Harbourside will now have to wait until September to see if it will scoop the gong in the Standalone Restaurant category of the Restaurant & Bar Design Awards at a glittering ceremony that will include the world’s best designers, architects, lighting designers and hospitality operators.
The brainchild of classically trained chef and entrepreneur Steve Bowen, Steak of the Art opened last autumn and has established itself as being one of the city’s best new places to eat.
Based on the simple steak restaurants of Paris and London but set within an artistically inspired environment that one might find in Barcelona, the venue focuses on serving quality steaks and fish dishes in an eclectic artistic environment that inspires and intrigues customers.
Steve said: “We never set out to win awards but it’s great to be short listed in such a high profile event such as this.
“From the feature arch bar to the Alice in Wonderland wood carved booth, guests always have the wow factor when they walk through the door and was one of the main objectives when we designed the interior.
“To get this far against so many other amazing venues is a real coup for us and for Bristol. To be the only venue from the city featured in this category is a fantastic achievement and we’ll now keep our fingers crossed for the event in September.”
Having received 840 submissions from the UK and 60 other countries the winners will be announced during a ceremony at London’s Old Truman Brewery in September.
Entries include those from Brazil, USA, Canada, Germany, Greece, New Zealand, Singapore, Australia adding to the international flavour of the awards.
