This December the Food Standards Agency (FSA) in conjunction with DEFRA, is introducing new allergen labelling laws. These are called the Food Information Regulations EU1169/2011 (FIR Regs) and come into effect on the 13th December. The new regulations will apply to all food service organisations – irrespective of size.
On the 5th November, experts in allergies and delivering allergy friendly food, will explain how businesses can become compliant and highlight the extensive opportunities serving freefrom food offers the food service industry. Speakers include Allergy UK’s Deputy CEO,’s Lindsey McManus and David Newsum a leading Environmental Health Practitioner, as well as chefs Steve Walpole and Hulya Erdal.
An allergy sufferer, Ruth Holroyd will highlight just why these regulations are so important and Allergy Aware Kitchen founder, Liz Allan and Julian Edwards from Allergen Accreditation will explain how training and accreditation can add value to the bottom line.
The event will also include a live demonstration theatre, with Steve and Hulya showing just how simple it can be to create delicious allergy friendly food.
