Coombe Abbey Crowned Best Independent Venue With Best Classical Bedroom Outside London

CoombeGuests at a historic Warwickshire hotel will now be able to relax safe in the knowledge they are staying in the best independent venue with the finest classical bedroom outside the M25.

Winners of the major trade Conference & Hospitality CHS Awards were announced at the annual awards ceremony which celebrates the nation’s best hotels and venues outside of London – and Brinklow-based Coombe Abbey was crowned the winner in two categories.

The privately-owned hotel was commended for the service, experience and history it provides at the awards, which are organised by event industry specialist CHS Group, as it was presented with the ‘Best Independent Venue’ title.

The prestigious title saw the hotel, which dates back to the 12th century, beat off stiff competition from the likes of Ardencote Manor Hotel and Birmingham Repertory Theatre.

After enjoying a record year in 2015 when the venue welcomed 65,000 guests and hosted 1,500 events, Coombe Abbey also took home the award for ‘Best Classical Bedroom’ for the Lindley Suite – a title the hotel has retained for two years after the The Lady Craven Suite won last year.

As one of the hotel’s 15 grand feature bedrooms, the Lindley has previously hosted music legends Bruce Springsteen and David Bowie and has views overlooking the moat, surrounding parkland and sweeping drive.

Ron Terry, general manager of Coombe Abbey, said the awards were the latest in a series of high profile accolades the hotel has received recently.

“In less than 12 months Coombe Abbey has been shortlisted for or won no less than ten awards on a regional, national and trade basis – that is a commendable achievement by any means but made all the more significant when you realise we are an independent business,” he said.

“Our dedication to providing an unrivalled, memorable experience in an historic and enchanting setting continues to help us attract both business and leisure guests from far and wide.

“To have won recognition for this achievement at a major and prestigious trade award ceremony is a real source of pride to the Coombe Abbey team.”
