Green Tourism Turns Over A New Leaf

greenGreen Tourism, the world’s largest sustainable certification programme of its kind, marks World Tourism Day on the 27th September 2016 with the launch of a campaign focusing on member benefits.

Following extensive research into what members value from Green Tourism, the company has revamped its offer focusing on providing products and services that deliver significant value and business return.

As successful marketing can form a massive 25% of points towards a green grading, the sustainable certification programme is saying thank you to its loyal members by offering a free annual digital marketing health check, as well as the opportunity for members to tell the story of its green business journey through a case study.

Other member benefits will include access to an extensive and current business resource library, bespoke and ongoing support from expert assessors and technical experts and use of the Green Tourism exclusive Carbon Calculator tool to calculate annual carbon footprint and demonstrate results to customers.

The impact of practicing sustainable initiatives has been proven to generate greater economic benefits for the business, local communities and provides a more enjoyable experience for tourists by creating meaningful connections with local people.

Jon Proctor, Green Tourism’s chief executive explains the importance a Green Tourism certification has on a tourism business: “As World Tourism Day raises awareness internationally of the importance of tourism’s social, cultural, political and economic value, we felt this was the perfect day to launch our new campaign. The Green Tourism team has undertaken extensive research within the hospitality and tourism markets and spoken with all of our members to devise these new benefits and new ways of working. Working with over 2000 businesses, across the tourism and hospitality sectors in the UK and abroad, Green Tourism assesses the green credentials of a business and rates their efforts against a rigorous set of criteria on the basis on Bronze, Silver and Gold.
