National Pubwatch has announced the release of its new Challenge 21 film. The film has been produced in order to provide Pubwatch members with a simple training tool which will allow them to cascade information to their bar staff. The film can be found on the YouTube link on National Pubwatch website.
Steve Baker Chair of National Pubwatch said, “The criticism of the pub and hospitality trade for under age sales continues to be an issue despite the fact that for many years they have had the superb Challenge 21 scheme in existence. We have decided to promote the scheme and at the same time show how bar staff can demonstrate due diligence by following a few simple steps when checking ID”.
Brigid Simmonds, CEO of the British Beer & Pub Association, said: “This is an excellent initiative from National Pubwatch. It is a fun and creative way of underpinning licensee training on the importance of Challenge 21.”
The film was made for National Pubwatch by Mini Mammoth Films. It features a scenario where a young looking customer tries to purchase alcohol and produces a Proof of Age Standards scheme (PASS) card as a form of ID. It is produced in a memorable ‘tongue in cheek’ way but with a serious message.
NPW would like to thank the management of the Niche Bar in Aylesbury where filming took place and also Validate UK for their help in providing a genuine PASS card.
