Nominees Announced For The 2014 Independent Hotel Show Awards

Independent-Hotel-ShowNominees for the 2014 Independent Hotel Show Awards have been announced – now it’s time for you to place your vote and help determine the show’s two winners for 2014.

A shortlist for the two prestigious awards – Independent Hotelier of the Year 2014 and Outstanding New Hotel of the Year 2014 – have been selected by the Awards Committee – a panel of respected industry figures including Telegraph Travel Writer, Fiona Duncan, Chief Executive of Pride of Britain Hotels, Peter Hancock, Managing Director of Ace Hotel, Chris Penn, Chief Executive of The Ellerman Group, Ciaran Fahy, Owner of The Arch London, Rafi Bejerano, Owner of Concept Venues, Mark Fuller, CEO of Nadler Hotels, Robert Nadler, CEO of Mr & Mrs Smith, James Lohan, General Manager of The Ampersand, Roberto Pajares and, of course, Tim Etchells, Managing Director of The Independent Hotel Show.

The Independent Hotelier of the Year Award recognises hoteliers who have made a significant contribution to the independent luxury and boutique hotel sector. Last year’s award went to Terence and Vicki Conran and Peter Prescott from East London’s celebrated Boundary Hotel.

The shortlisted nominees for 2014 have all been selected for their pioneering spirit and commitment to pushing boundaries. Innovative and creative, they are leaders of properties with unique offerings but also develop their teams by investing in their own establishments and also the industry at large. This year’s nominees are: Craig Bancroft and Nigel Haworth, Northcote Manor; Kit and Tim Kemp, Firmdale Hotels; Mark Sainsbury, Michael Benyan and Jason Catifeoglou, The Zetter and Zetter Townhouse; Ian Schrager, Ian Schrager Company; David Levin, The Capital Hotel; and Tim Hart, Hambleton Hall and Harts.

The Outstanding New Hotel of the Year Award recognises new entrants to the market who have made a significant impact through their commitment to dynamism and innovation over the last three years. Last year’s winner, The Pig in Brockenhurst, has continued to excite and inspire the industry with its original format and unique dining experience.

The shortlisted properties for 2014 have all been selected by the Awards Committee as delivering outstanding service and guest experiences, providing personality, style and grace while achieving significant success in a relatively short time. They are: Chiltern Firehouse, London; The Lord Crewe Arms, Blanchland, County Durham; Ham Yard Hotel, London; No 131, Cheltenham; The Pig on the Beach, Studland, Dorset; and The Wild Rabbit, Oxfordshire.

Tim Etchells, Managing Director of The Independent Hotel Show concludes: “The Independent Hotel Show Awards continues to be a highlight of the show, celebrating the innovation and diversity that is the lifeblood of the industry. We hope that you will cast your votes for the two awards and make a date in your diary for the Awards evening on 21st October to find out the winners.”

Full details of all of the nominees can be found online at www.independenthotelshow.co.uk/awards, and in The Concierge show e-newsletter. Winners will be announced at the Independent Hotel Show Awards evening on 21st October 2014.
