Bedford Lodge Hotel & Spa has announced its charity of the year for 2016/2017 as the Cambridgeshire-based Niamh Henry’s Fairy Wish Fund, which was set up in memory of Niamh Henry who was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer which affects the kidney in January 2008 and who sadly passed away, aged four, in January 2009.
Niamh Henry’s Fairy Wish Fund raises money for C2, the children’s cancer unit at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, the children’s Rainbow Ward at the West Suffolk Hospital, the paediatric counselling services at Addenbrooke’s, and Stars, which is a community based counselling service in Cambridge for bereaved children. The Hotel staff will take part in a range of fundraising activities and organise their own events to raise awareness and funds. Fundraising will kick off with a Charity Class-A-Thon at the Hotel’s Edge Health and Fitness Club on Thursday 3rd November.
Noel Byrne, Chief Executive at Bedford Lodge Hotel & Spa, commented on the announcement: “The Niamh Henry’s Fairy Wish Fund is a fantastic charitable organisation that makes a real difference to the lives of children with cancer and their families across West Suffolk and Cambridgeshire.
“As a hotel we receive many charity donation requests throughout the year and by nominating one organisation each year to focus our efforts on we hope to provide more support and help them to make even more of a positive impact. I am really looking forward to seeing the imaginative fundraising activities the team comes up with!”
