Chez Vous in Warlingham, Surrey, has been “crowned” Hotel of the Year 2017 by Les Routiers, the guide for independent, value establishments. Established in Paris in 1934, Les Routiers started as a guide for the best independent restaurants and places to stay for road users. By the 1960s, people in the know in France and visitors to the country started to seek out the familiar Les Routiers plaque; it signified that the establishment was well-managed, clean and hospitable, and offered good food and excellent service.
By the time the Les Routiers guide reached the UK and Ireland, the brand was firmly associated with traditional hotels, guest houses, bed & breakfasts, restaurants, bars, bistros and cafés. Our establishments share a sense of individuality that sets them apart from global chains. Visitors can expect good cuisine, friendly staff and value for money. Our establishments are passionate about consistently maintaining excellent standards in all aspects of their business and customer service.
Winner Chez Vous which opened in 2011, is said by Les Routiers to “successfully combine warm hospitality with a high standard of décor, and often provides the extras you would expect of deluxe hotels”.
Chez Vous is owned and operated by chefs Laurent Pacaud and Martin Bradley.
Meanwhile, the Restaurant of the Year award was won by the Copper Horse in Seamer, Scarborough. Les Routiers said that the owners, Nick and Sandra Thomas deliver all that is outstanding value for money, and added: “Our winners aim to source ingredients as locally as possible, which they use imaginatively in unpretentious and often regional dishes.”
A total of 12 establishments were honoured in the Les Routiers Awards 2017.
