, Editor’s Viewpoint: The Result Is In – It’s “Brexit” For CLH ReadersReaders of CLH News have voted in favour of “Brexit” following an online poll which we have conducted over the past two weeks. Out of the 300+ respondents 53% were in favour of Britain leaving the European Union, 38% in favour of Remain, with 9% undecided.

Unless you have been living in a cave on the planet Mars you will be aware that the biggest decision for a generation takes place today. We have followed the debate intensely and have seen leading figures in the hospitality industry voice their opinions on both sides of the debate. Out of all the voices in the hospitality industry, I am personally of the opinion that Tim Martin of Wetherspoon’s was the most vocal, arguing that Britain would be better and prosper outside of the EU and printed hundreds of thousands of beer mats to make his case.

As readers of CLH News, both in our printed copy and online, are aware, we are publication dedicated to the independent sector of the hospitality industry. Having done some research today I find that our poll is at odds with hospitality industry leaders, in particular the British Hospitality Association report which is found that the industry’s Chief executives were overwhelmingly in favour of remaining in the EU.

So it remains to be seen how the British public vote today, but we can say here with confidence that CLH News readers are overwhelmingly in favour of a Brexit!
