Pub Company and Brewer, Greene King, is giving its employees an opportunity to improve their wellbeing with a week-long event at its head office and depots in Bury St Edmunds and Support Centre in Burton.
This is the second year the company has run the week, which is designed to promote health awareness at work and at home, and includes workshops, challenges, health promotion activities, webinars, fresh fruit and advice from a variety of wellness experts.
Andrew Bush, group HR director at Greene King, said: “We want to create an environment where our employees can achieve their full potential and, to do this, we need to be aware of and care for our teams’ wellbeing and mental health. We are a big employer in Bury and Burton so we have a responsibility to care for those who work for us and we believe our people will benefit from the week.
“From mental health awareness workshops to promotion of healthy eating and sleeping, there is an array of events for our teams to tap into. The ‘Know you Numbers’ mini health check is always popular, where our employees can have their blood cholesterol, blood glucose, blood pressure and body mass checked.”
To build competition among teams, there will be an office-wide pedometer challenge where each function has to clock up the most steps during the week with the top team winning a prize. To support the event, each function has a Wellbeing Week champion who will answer any questions about the week and support teams to make the most of the opportunity available.
