Jill Conte of the West Park Hotel has made it to the final three in the AA Housekeeper of the Year, part of the organisation’s hospitality awards which take place in London on Monday September 25.
Jill said: “I have waited for years for this but I only entered when I knew I was ready to compete with the very best. This is the highest housekeeping award it is possible to win and I am very excited.”
She joined the West Park team even before the hotel opened in 2014, supervising the clear-up after the hotel’s multi-million-pound renovation and getting the rooms ready for the very first guests.
She puts her success down to passion, commitment and pride in her job. “I love my job,” she said. “It is a job where you need real commitment and I am proud that I have never had a complaint since we opened the hotel. It is often the little things that count. Guests will remember how you made them feel if you go the extra mile to make their stay special and making sure customers always come first is the difference between success and failure.”
Jill manages a team at the hotel, ensuring the rooms and public areas are always immaculate. Her attention to detail includes ensuring all carpets are washed by hand.
Hotel Manager Nathan George said: “It is fantastic that Jill has reached the final three and she thoroughly deserves this success. Now we are all awaiting the final outcome with bated breath!”
