Every year, the Westfield Health British Transplant Games brings a tight knit community of transplant recipients and donor families together into a friendly, competitive space. It highlights the importance of registering for organ donation and discussing our wishes with our families, as well as encouragingthose who have received transplants to regain and maintain their fitness. It celebrates physical achievements, and most importantly, celebrates life together.
This year the Westfield Health British Transplant Games take place from the 27th to 30th July, when thousands of organ donors and recipients will arrive in North Lanarkshire to celebrate the games. DoubleTree by Hilton Strathclyde is proud to be named the official host for two of the teams and a number of select guests.
“When we heard about the Westfield Health British Transplant Games coming to the area, we immediately wanted to get involved. A valued member of staff, Christina, underwent transplant surgery four years ago. It was a turbulent time, involving dialysis three times a day for a year, until her brother donated his kidney. As such, we’re delighted to be named as an official host for the games, and look forward to supporting such a worthy cause,” says Lyndsay Ferguson, sales manager at DoubleTree by Hilton Strathclyde.
Lynne Holt, who sits on the Local Operating Committee as advisor from Transplant Sport, the charity that has organised the Games for the last 40 years, says: “Travelling up to North Lanarkshire every month, the DoubleTree Hilton is my little nest that I always look forward to visiting and feel welcomed and safe in. From the warm cookie offered at reception, always with a friendly smile, to popping to the spa if I have time, the experience is always a very positive one! We are very grateful for the support of DoubleTree by Hilton Strathclyde.”
