Independent Survey Of UK Licensees Recognises Admiral Taverns

Admiral Taverns (“Admiral”), the UK’s leading community pub company, has once again achieved the highest overall score amongst the regulated, national pub companies for its licensee-centric approach in the annual independent UK licensee survey, in a year which has seen the pub industry face unprecedented challenges.

The survey, led by Kam Media, consulted tenants from 19 pub companies, including all six of the UK’s largest pub companies to establish the ranking, assessing a variety of criteria. These included pub-company support offered to licensees throughout the pandemic, effectiveness of Business Development Managers, recruitment, ordering and delivering platforms, product support, business support, marketing and communications, landlord services, and net promoter scores to determine whether a tenant would recommend the pub company.

Throughout the pandemic Admiral has taken a highly proactive and supportive approach towards its licensees, offering significant rent aid as well as specific reopening support, beer credits, online training and support to access local authority grants. Admirals’ estate includes over 1000 community pubs, many of which are wet-led pubs which have been overlooked by much Government support.

When asked about the Group’s support, licensees gave Admiral strong scores:

  • Overall, the Group ranked first, with a satisfaction score of 8.2/10
  • Specifically on its support during the pandemic, Admiral scored 8.3/10
  • Licensees felt Admiral’s support was extensive and 31% said Admiral could not have done anymore
  • When asked if they would recommend their pub company to someone else looking to take on a pub, licensees gave Admiral 8.2/10 & are very likely to recommend Admiral Taverns

Chris Jowsey, CEO of Admiral Taverns, said: “Community pubs are an integral part of the UK’s social tapestry. They are hubs which bring people together, provide a forum to combat loneliness and are significant fundraisers for charity causes, raising over £100 million pounds for charity each year. From the onset of the pandemic, we have worked hard to ensure our licensees received the support needed to emerge from the crisis energised, motivated, and not weighed down by debt.

This independent recognition through the Kam Media survey is testament to Admiral’s hardworking employees and their continual efforts to help our licensees across the country. With the roadmap to reopening on 12th April outlined by the Government, we are working closely with licensees to help them bounce back and will continue petitioning the Government to provide long-term, meaningful support.

Many licensees have remained undeterred in their efforts to support their communities, transforming their business models to open as village shops, launching delivery services, protecting the vulnerable and raising money for charity.”
